This surreal video starts with an adventurous tone,
with Pharrell Williams walking towards what seems to be a large derelict robot
or spacecraft. This proceeds with the title of the song and the next scene we
see if that of emotive inducing reds and oranges reminiscent of that from the
film Ying xiong (its most commonly known name is Hero). The scene in which this
brings to mind is the fight sequence between Flying Snow and Moon. This fight
sequence also heavily involves gusts of wind; perhaps a deliberate reference to
the film or a nod to its use of colour, for the music video appears to take inspiration
from such while the featured song is called “Gust
of Wind”. Meanwhile the discarded robot remains we saw earlier rise up into
shot and have a sense of personification applied as they become Williams’s
backing singers before heading off into the distant sunset. Last but not least,
these “robot heads” that are representing “Daft Punk’s” role in the song resemble
that of rock formations, which nicely feeds into the overall natural setting to
the video.
